Some areas of Scotland are well catered for but scant pickings for me and I'm quite disappointed with what information I could glean after downloading a couple of files.
But I'm sure someone will strike lucky. _________________

My husband's great uncle was a conscientious objector in WW1; there is no information about him on Scotlandspeople. I've found all the details of his court appearances and prison sentences on Lives of the First World War. |

Scotlandspeople site. Only just heard of this but if you go to the "Buy more credits" section and input SCOTLAND into the voucher code box, you will be credited with 20 credits. I don't know how long this will be available. _________________ Ken |

When I saw the area covered I thought well nothing here for me but I chanced to put Aberdeen into the address and a few came up so maybe try that out. _________________ Researching WWI info from Aberdeenshire, Banffshire, Kincardineshire & Morayshire. |

I've heard (during a talk by a member of staff at GRO) that Scotland's People will be under new management from 1 September 2016 and the vouchers that are sold by many family history societies MAY not be honoured. The speaker suggested that credits on accounts WOULD be honoured therefore it makes sense to use all vouchers before 1 September. |

Sandra was anything said about downloads stored on the scotlandspeople site?
I have heard, but I haven't been able to confirm, that any records stored may well be lost with the transfer of the service to a new provider. _________________ Ken |

Re. Ken's point. That would be a disaster to lose downloads within the SP site. If anyone has any news could they please let us know. Ta.

Ken: nothing was said about the records stored on Scotland's People but I seem to remember that much the same was "suggested" the last time the contract was up for grabs and all the worries came to naught. I'll ask around my acquaintances in family history circles. |
