I have had a query about a suitable manner of ensuring poppy wreaths which are placed in front of a memorial cross do not blow away.
Instead of cord or wire does anyone know of suitable holders or brackets?
Alness has a bracket but it is very utilitarian
Lossiemouth has something a bit less obtrusive
Does anyone know of any other alternative method?

several memorials have hooks built into them as part of the design, but this only caters for a small number of wreaths which have to be wired on anyway - they have mostly rusted away so not really a good solution

The memorial in question is a Celtic Cross with a small plinth. The likely solution would be to put a small railing into the gravel in front of it rather than attach anything to the memorial stonework itself to avoid damaging it.
There was also a suggestion of adding a poppy motif to the metalwork which I thought would be a nice touch.

Usually they leave one beside "The Lion" others are taken into the memorial hall. _________________ Researching WWI info from Aberdeenshire, Banffshire, Kincardineshire & Morayshire. |

Stout fishing line does the job well tied to a couple of small steel nails. _________________ Jim
