I am searching for a memorial to a Royal Naval Nursing Service Sister, Kate Ellen Gribble, who died along with 21 Wrens when the S.S. Aguila, bound for Gibraltar, was torpedoed and sunk on 19th August 1941. The memorial is recorded to have been installed in St. Paul’s Church, Pilrig Street, Leith, Edinburgh.
I have found a post for Pilrig Church that has a photo of a WWI Memorial but refers to having been in the ‘former Pilrig Church’ suggesting that the church no longer exists.
Is it possible therefore that someone might know of the existence, and indeed a photograph, of Sister Gribble’s Memorial?

Most grateful for any assistance.

Tony

Not sure if it is of any help but the unveiling of the parishioners memorial in Pilrig St Paul's was recorded in the Scotsman of 7 Nov 1949 so may be worth checking that out.

Something here about the union of Pilrig and Dalmeny churches in case you have not seen it http://www.pilrigstpauls.org.uk/page.php?2
