Hi,

I am still trying to research the records of the 130 servicemen commemorated on the Inverkeithing WW1 memorial (I now have 4 to find). One of them is William Donaldson.

All the names on the WW1 main panel appear in alphabetical order; however, the name of William appears above that of Thomas Donaldson. Does anybody know if there could be any significance in this - or it simply may be an error?

Rgds,
Alex

Alex - I have seen this. Usually it reflects the dates of death (earliest first) However it happens most often when the men are related (brothers) and sometimes it reflects the dates of birth (eldest first) - oh, and sometimes it just doesn't make sense Rolling Eyes

Hi Kenneth,

I had already assumed that all of these could be possibilities. Still looking for some hidden piece of logic. I know it is out there, just need to find it Smile

Rgds,
Alex
