I watched TV the other night and there was a piece on about Double Thankful Villages ...they made mention about villages with no war memorials as they had no men who died in WWI or WWII does Scotland have some Double Thankful Villages? _________________ Researching WWI info from Aberdeenshire, Banffshire, Kincardineshire & Morayshire. |

Thanks for getting back. That's sad for Scotland that it does not qualify for that really special award.... _________________ Researching WWI info from Aberdeenshire, Banffshire, Kincardineshire & Morayshire. |

I believe that Thankful Village is a term that really relates to England and Wales.
If you are looking for a Scots parish with no casualties during WW2, Glass is one. _________________ Jim

I think we had a chat about this a few years ago.... ah, it was 4 years ago! see here
There are some parishes/villages with no memorial, but that's not to say people with a strong connection to the area did not perish in the world wars and are perhaps listed elswhere, if at all?
