How might help getting the information on the memorial changed to Robert Dickson who was Deck Hand 21783 DA HMS Victory born Gourdon, Kincardine 31/05/1900 Age 18 Died from disease Haslar 10-Sep-18 NoK: Mother: Margaret (nee Moncur) Dickson, 29, Queen St, Gourdon, Kincardineshire. Father Robert Dickson. Died Haslar Hospital Gosport. 1901 Census: Queen St; Bervie. Age 4 mo. Gourdon Cemetery, Bervie, Kincardineshire 35. 36. 37. 36.

Use of two spellings for the same name was not uncommon eg. McIntosh and MacIntosh

It might have been a mistake when erected, I could not believe that in a place like Gourdon, where he was born and lived all his life, it was not noticed at the time.
If it has been there in this format since the 1920's and none of his family members had it changed I would see no reason to change it now.

I just think that getting it right is something which makes researching easier and that with time it will be harder for family members to find....
