The name of Andrew J Easton appears on the memorial for Wilton Parish Church in Hawick.
His name does not appear in any other source in Hawick.
There are only three Andrew Eastons dying in the Great War on SNWM and CWGC but none link to Hawick.
But on the Jedburgh War Memorial is Sergeant And. Easton, A.O.C
I can find no match anywhere for this man except there is a 1911 census record for 67 Castlegate in Jedburgh where a 15 year old son appears called Andrew James Easton. He is listed as having been born in Hawick.
Can anyone find a death entry for the Sergeant Andrew Easton of the A.O.C? _________________

John,
You're a marvel - that sounds like a result.
The parents I have on the 1911 census are William and Maggie.
Does this correspond with any inof you have? _________________

John,
Thank you again.
Can anyone with access to Ancestry check for a Andrew James Easton please?
Possibly Jedburgh, Hawick or Wilton. _________________

It would seem that Andrew is a forgotten hero.
He was awarded the MSM in January 1919.
And according to J.D Smith's book "Jedburgh's Wartime Sacrfice", it is he who is commemorated on the Jedburgh War Memorial.
Of note also is the fact that Andrew's service number was 05072, there being an Adam Easton with the number of 05071 - were they brothers? _________________
