As you know over the past few months we have been trying to expand the appeal of the SMRG, to try and broaden our horizons and at the same time encourage others to help with the existing projects. Really to try and live up to our hope that people across Scotland and the rest of the world can pool their research and knowledge to help others.

We have been publishing articles on the Blog and highlighting things on facebook and twitter to try and raise the profile of the projects. This has been hard work and very time consuming. We'll not say it hasn't been a labour of love because we have enjoyed doing it, but sometimes it seems to be to no avail and there seems to be some virtual wall of apathy out there.

We very much appreciate all of you who have taken the time to send us articles. We have published some and have others lined up to be published, but we'd appreciate some feedback on the facebook page ( just 'like' us even), or hope folk would take part in our competitions or polls. We have tried to make it as easy as possible to enter competitions and take part in the polls; and we know form the stats on the blog that we are getting a lot more visitors than entrants / voters.

Come on folks, this is a worthwhile project and we've put a heck of a lot of hours into it over the years. Help us out now by getting just a wee bit more involved.

I don't have much to add to what Adam is saying: I'm in complete agreement with him.

We've built up a great resource here, and we'd like to do more with it. The lack of response to anything we post is proving a little demoralising.

Remember what our goal was - we want to be THE place for information on Scottish war memorials. Let's make it happen.

well I am not a facebook kind of guy but I have (heavily) plugged the SWMP and SWGP to local (professional) family history researchers, local FHS when I have given them a talk, other local groups when I have given talks and I am trying to get us recognised as an education resource at the school where I work and other schools.

I think that schools and colleges, local library reference sections, local museums and Regimental Associations are the way to go but perhaps this is best done locally as in..........."I am your local representative"

perhaps we need a new thread somewhere - feedback from local press - where we can record any mention of the projects and this in turn may encourage members to put the word out more

just some random thoughts
