I have been given some advanced notice of some questions for my talk next week in Newton Stewart. Can anyone help with any of this please?

1. Anyone know of any research sources for an Army Captain who served in the 1820s apart from London Gazette and Regimental Histories?

2. WW1 – 41016 Pte Andrew Love, Royal Scots Fusiliers who survived the war. Can anyone tell me his Bn (not on MIC)? Also anyone have access to the war diary for that Bn?

2. Very likely the 1st Bn. Men around that number who died were mostly with the 1st Bn, a very small proportion were with the 5/6th Bn.

Most, if not all, of these men would have enlisted with other regiments/corps and then been re-badged to the RSF, probably in late 1916. I know that 41069 John Paterson was originally Ayrshire Yeomanry.

Sorry that I can't be more definite but I don't have medal rolls or war diary for the RSF.

Stuart

One more query................

William Logan survived the war, service record did not survive. MIC shows 7893 6th RSF and 45284 R Scots.

Also theatre of war was 2B (Balkans incl Gallipoli) from 12/6/1915

I think that 6 RSF were in F&F at that time? So presumably he went to R Scots prior to 12/6/1915, but which Bn?
