Malcolm McNaughton, Pvt. Seaforth Highs., listed at Blair Atholl.
Only 1 person of that name (Macnaughton) listed with MIC, and served in Seaforth Highs.
States on his card - discharged, see SWB card.
Where would I obtain this card. What info does it give if still in existence.
Thanks,
Mark |

It will definitely still be held at the National Archives. It will give name, service number, regiment (sometimes, but not always, specific battalion), date of enlistment, date of discharge, terms of discharge under KR392 (e.g. xvi), reason for discharge (wounds, sickness, very rarely anything more specific), and depending on SWB volume, it will give age on discharge.

Stewart,
Many thanks for that. Very interesting and some useful information on the card it seems. I may have a few to obtain at some point. Cheers.

I copied the BWM/Vic medal roll and SWB roll pages at Kew yesterday. Malcolm served with the 1st Seaforths. He enlisted 29th Aug 1914 and was discharged, due to wounds, from the 3rd Battalion on 3rd December 1915. Let me know your email address by PM and I will send you copies.

Just an update.
I spent a few moments looking round Blair Atholl Churchyard today. I found a reference to Malcolm McNughton on his parents grave. It states late Seaforths thereon and his date of death is the one I picked out from GROS. So that will be my man. |
