Pte. Samuel McCurdie is listed on Denny War Memorial(s) as having served in the Cameronians (Scottish Rifles).

I can't find him on CWGC, SNWM, SDGW, can't find a Medal Card (except for a Samuel McCurdie, R.A.M.C.), can't find any Service Records either. I've tried every variation on the spelling of his surname (that I can think of).

There are 2 on the 1901 Census - one from Midlothian, the other from Ayrshire neither giving any clues or connections to the Denny area.

In Denny & Dunipace published Roll of Honour his address is listed as 37 Broad Street (Denny), enlisted in August 1914 and was killed in action (no date or number listed)

He's not on any of the local Church Memorials.

Anne Confused

There are 2 McCurdies listed on Camelon Parish Church Memorial - Robert and Samuel . . . . . . . ?

A hunch, CWGC, SNWM and MIC to see if anything extra (no service record on Ancestry). No access to SDGW I'm afraid, the stuff on Ancestry is just plain unreliable.

Goodwin's first rule of name spelling, anything that ends in ie, try ey or y and vice versa. Laughing

Info from SDGW and MIC. Death recorded as McCurdy age 40.
If his parents are Samuel & Margaret McCurdy this family at Pleasance Road, Falkirk in 1901.
