In the 31/8/2017 edition of the Wigtownshire Free Press there is an article on the SS Princess Maud (a passenger steamer normally on the Stranraer-Larne route) and her exploits at Dunkirk and subsequently. It mentions the death of thomas Wilson: "Two miles from the shore a shell burst through the engine room, just six inches above the water; then another hit. With blankets and a mattress stuffed in the hole, they "very reluctantly" turned back to Dover, but the shrapnell had mortally wounded Greaser Thomas Wilson, who came from Stranraer's Murrayfield Avenue. [Captain] Iles recalls how the pantry boy Haveron, held the dying man's hand and tried to cheer him. Wilson and three others died shortly after the ship reached Dover."
