Andrew Smellie is recorded on CWGC as Smillie

Name: SMILLIE, ANDREW KENNEDY
Initials: AK
Nationality: New Zealand
Rank: Private
Service Number: 25328
Regiment/Service: Otago Regiment, NZEF, 1st Bn
Date of Death: 5/4/1917
Age: 19

Wigtownshire Free Press (10/5/1917): Mrs Smellie, Princess Street, Stranraer, has received definite intimation that her eldest son, Gunner A K Smellie, Z Battery, TMB, NZFA, was killed in action on the Western Front, on 5th ult, his 19th birthday. Gunner Smellie went to New Zealand about four years ago, and was engaged there for the most part on ranch work. He was well known in Stranraer, and was home on furlough about four months ago. He had developed into a fine young man, generous spirited, and evincing a kindly and manly nature. In the land of his adoption he kept in close touch with home and the loved ones here, and proved himself to be a devoted and considerate son to his mother. He was connected with the OS Church, occupying a place on its Roll of Honour. Deep sympathy is felt for the mother and family during their bereavement. He nobly did his duty with the famous Anzacs, and his memory will be treasured as one more of those who has died for country, God, and right. Rev J Heggie, minister of the OS Church, paid a tribute to Gunner Smellie at the service on Sunday, assuring mother and family of the deep sympathy of the congregartion. Seven members of the church Roll of Honour have been killed.

[The report also includes a photograph of Gummer Smellie].
