Wigtownshire Free Press (29/8/1918): The death is reported of Corpl William H Graham, RAMC (late Camerons), son of Mr and Mrs Gilbert Graham, 230 Dalrymple Street, Girvan. Corpl Graham was one of the first young men in Girvan to respond to Lord Kitchener's call for soldiers and joined the ranks of Lochiel's Camerons. At the Battle of Loos in September 1915 he was seriously wounded in the shoulder. For a long time the wound gave him trouble; but his valuable services as a dispensing chemist were fully used by the military authorities, first at Ranaldstown Camp, Ireland, and latterly at Nigg Camp, Scotland - until indeed a few days before his death. Some months ago he bagan to suffer from a somewhat serious disease. Recently, a disease, more serious still, developed, and he died in Cromarty Military Hospital on 15th August.
