(Glasgow Herald 19th June 1915)
"Private H. McIlroy, Scots Guards, who resided at Bankside, Old Kilpatrick, has been killed in action. He enlisted at the outbreak of war, prior to which he was employed in Messrs Napierand Miller's shipyard, Old Kilpatrick."

"Deaths on Service.

Killed in action, on 2nd July, Private Alexander Laing, A. and S.H., aged 21, eldest son of Mr and Mrs Laing, 10, Mitchell Terrace, Old Kilpatrick; deeply mourned."
