The memorials at Pollokshaws Burgh Hall and St Mary Immaculate Church, Pollokshaws, both have Private Peter McDermott.
City of Glasgow Roll of Honour gives Gordon Highlanders, 22 Duncan Street, Pollokshaws, but I have been unable to find any match in CWGC or SNWM.
From the Pollokshaws News 07/04/16 “Private Peter McDermott, Gordon Highlanders was killed on 3rd March, Mrs Burns, 22 Duncan St, Pollokshaws, with whom he resided having received official intimation. Private McDermott, who was 23 years of age, enlisted in August last year, and went to France in November. In civil life he was employed in Queen’s Park Laundry, Crossmyloof.”
UK Army Register of Soldiers Effects, via Ancestry, appears to confirm the death in action of Private Peter McDermott, Gordon Highlanders, S/12257 on 03/03/1916. Searching with this service number gives a different Gordon Highlander, killed 23/06/16.

I have found other Gordon Highlanders by reading the list only putting in Gordon Highlanders when asking for details. _________________ Researching WWI info from Aberdeenshire, Banffshire, Kincardineshire & Morayshire. |
