Corporal Frank Anderson is named on the memorials in Mochrum Church and in Port William, Wigtownshire.
I'm now fairly sure that this is ROBERT FRANCIS ANDERSON, Private 6029, 8th Field Ambulance, RAMC. Died 30 June 1915 and buried in Brandhoek Military Cemetery, Belgium.
His Medal Card has Frank Anderson, Acting Sergeant.
On CWGC his parents are James and Jane Anderson of Elrig Village, Port William.

But I cannot find him on SNWM or SDGW - and I cannot trace his birthplace or date. (He was 21 when he died).

According to the 1911 census his mother Jane (forty-eight) was born in Maybole, Ayrshire, had been married for 27 years and there were 5 children still alive.
James (50) had been born in Mochrum and was a Police Pensioner (but with which force?)

I've got the horrible feeling that I'm missing something obvious. HELP!

If his father was born in Mochrum, then he should still be listed on SNWM even if he was born in England and served in a Corps.

He certainly qualifies, but I guess nobody contacted them.
It wouldn't have been obvious from SDGW (for example).
