Quote-1939-1945:
Capt Doanld McAlister RNR
Able Seaman Charles McTavish MN
Capt Mary Crossley, ATS. Unquote
Re Capt Mary Crossley - Can you confirm if the memorial quotes "Captain" as there is a "Corporal" Mary McLean Crossley recorded by CWGC, buried in Kilmory Churchyard

Tony: I took the details down by dictaphone. My notes say Captain, so I am sure that is what I said into the mike. But it might be actually shown as Cpl or Cpt on the memorial and weathering has made it unclear, and I assumed it was Captain. |

John
I think that you can safely say it was CPL as the ATS officers rank titles were not the same as the regular army. If you are in that area again I would certainly appreciate a photograph of her grave.
Best wishes.
