Situated in Mertoun Cemetery, just outside Clintmains, this has got to be the most difficult stone I have ever tried to read. One face was fine because the sun slanting across at an angle provided shadows to the incised letters. The other faces were fiendishly awkward to read even with my nose six inches from the stone! For this reason, I provide a transcription of the names.

Comparing with the pictures above from 2007, it seems that this has been given a 'spruce-up', rendering the lettering much-improved.

I must say that I found it slightly incongruous in its surroundings, which is among the parish cemetery. Not in the hamlet or near the parish church.
