Hi everyone,
I'm currently researching all those who died during the two world wars in the parish of Muiravonside (and Polmont, for a wee part of Rumford called Craigs) I've got all the names ( as far as I know) from the memorials in Muiravonside, Standburn, Avonbridge and Polmont, trouble is that many of the records conflict with the memorials, Falkirk and Stirling (shire) seems to cover all my area so I'm not even sure if I have the right person matching the name on the memorials (dates seem to be right, rank seems to be right but some of the residences are way out).
I'm compiling names for a new memorial due to be built in Maddiston by the end of July which is fine - except for the Craigs names which are lumped in with Brightons - anyone out there done anything similar who could help? _________________ David E Leask

Hello David,
Welcome to the Forum!
Do you have access to Ancestry? The reason I ask is that you can sometimes be lucky and find service record files and if you're even more lucky, you may find an home address on one of the pages.
There's always Census Returns too although the latest to view is 1901, so addresses may not be the same. (Unless you already have 1911 images?)
I had a wee look at the Polmont page here, and see what you mean about Brightons and Craigs being lumped together. I'm the guilty party who took the photos of the memorial in the cemetery, but I'm ignorant as to all the different areas.
An idea might be to add some posts to the Queries and Requests board and see if anyone can help with anything.
We love a challenge!

Welcome to the forum, hopfefully you'll be able to get some help here from some very experienced members.
Do you have any details you could tell us about the new memorial, location, material, background to why it is needed etc. It's always interesting to hear about a new memorial.
Thanks
Adam |
