Thanks to Mrs Aase Goldsmith, Peter Goldsmith, Peter McIntosh, Ken Wilkie and Simon Hayhow for obtaining this photo and the text. A number of things made photographing this memorial extremely "challenging".

This tablet was presented by

THE MERCHANT NAVY MEMORIAL TRUST SCOTLAND

Patron HRH The Princess Royal

and unveiled by

SIR MENZIES CAMPBELL CBE QC MP

president of the Scottish Fisheries Museum Trust

on 12th April 2011

This memorial tablet is a tribute to all

fishermen and whalers from Scotland

who died on active service whilst

attached to the Royal Navy,

the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve

and the Royal naval Reserve

during both World Wars.

In rememberance of those who

died in the pursuit of their

trade in times of peace

LEST WE FORGET

The centre piece is a depiction of the Memorial on The Shore, Leith //

and which was unveiled by HRH The Princess Royal on the 16th November 2010. //

It commemorates the loss of more than 6,500 Merchant Navy personnel from Scotland // who gave their lives in World Wars I & II, all other previous and subsequent // theatres of conflict and in peace time service along the trade routes of the world.
