I can't find anything about a St George's United Free Church in Montrose so don't know where this memorial could be in 2011.

From "The Scotsman" 14th February 1921

MONTROSE

A war memorial for the men who fell in the war was unveiled in St George's United Free Church Montrose, by the Rev. John Dow, M.A.

One of many amalgamated churches in Montrose over the years. All of which now form part of St Andrews & Old. Whether the memorials from each congregation rest in the old parish church building remains to be seen.

St Andrews church on the corner of George Street and Baltic Street was a union of two churches which were themselves unions - St George's and Trinity (whose building became St Andrews) and St Luke's and St John's.

I am sure that there were a number of memorial plates and plaques around the walls of St Andrews including war memorials. I don't know from which of the constituent churches they came nor what has happened to them now. The former St Andrew's building belongs to a nursery/ playgroup,
