|
|
By an amazing stroke of luck, I was chatting to a visitor at work, the subject of memorials came up and he said he had 2 catalogues of Osborne's a foundry firm based in London. He kindly photographed the 2 catalogues and sent me high res images in full.
There are a few Scottish War Memorials amongst them (at least 3) but there is no location in the text, just what is on the memorials 'to the men of this parish' etc.
The amount of detail in the pics means you have to zoom in to see it all and therefore reducing the images to 800 X 600 in order to post on photobucket would not really be a solution. I will see how I can best put these into the public domain at sometime in the future (obviously by concentrating on the Scottish Memorials I can identify first).
If anyone has any ideas or suggestions, please let me know, meanwhile here is a taster.

What a tremendous find.
It reminds me of the book which appeared on E-bay recently with the Canadian connection. A real gem. _________________

I downloaded all the pics of the Canadian one so can forward copies or do lookups on request, but lowish resolution of course. This one has high res pics, 8 Scottish memorials identified so far and all with legible inscriptions.

I have a spreadsheet with all listed but many are not known, if you send me a PM I will send the spreadsheet. If you send me your postal address, I will send a CD with all the photos.
