Carmunnock Parish Church, Kirk Road, Carmunnock, Glasgow G76 9BY
OS Grid Ref: NS 599575
The church is also known as The Kirk in the Braes. It was rebuilt in 1767 on a pre-Reformation site and repaired in 1840. It has an external stone staircase leading to the old family galleries of Castlemilk, Dripps and Cathkin. The ancient graveyard has a watch-house with original instructions for grave watchers 1828, and a burial vault of the Stirling-Stuart family, Lairds of Castlemilk.
Inside the church beneath the organ gallery is the Roll of Honour listing the one hundred and seventeen men from the Parish who served in World War 1.
The pulpit is flanked by two fine stained-glass windows, dedicated in 1922 as a War Memorial. They are the work of Norman McLeod MacDougall, artist, who lived in the village.
