St. Patrick’s RC Church
Arthurstone Terrace
Dundee
DD4 6RT
(T M Cappon, 1897) Impressive red sandstone church with Scots revival style corner tower and belfry, and almost Art Nouveau detailing by Cappon's then assistant W G Lamond (who later worked with W H Langlands on the Dundee schools).
The memorial for the fallen of the parish of St. Patrick’s is the War Memorial Hall adjacent to the church at:
7 Maitland Street
Dundee
DD4 6RR
The hall was built by Mr D.T. Patterson, Soapwork Lane, Dundee while the electric lighting was installed by Messrs. D.J. Macdonald, Electrical Engineers, St. Roque’s Work, Dundee. The building was completed in 1927.
Within the foyer at the entrance to the Memorial Hall, which faces on to Maitland Street, are two brass plaques listing the fallen of the parish in the two World Wars.

Superb pictures of the brass plaques - I know how difficult these are to get a clear picture without reflections.

Thanks for a very detailed post and very clear shots of the brass plaques. they are very difficult to photograph normally.
Sister Mary Aldhelm is not listed as a civilian casualty in the Commonwealth War Graves Commission database.

UPDATE
10 Sept 2013
I received the following info from his nephew Paul Mahady in USA
He is my Uncle who died in Halifax plane crash near RAF Marston Moor airfield during April of 1942.
He was the eldest of six Mahady children from Dundee who all served in WWII.
My father, his brother, is Flight Sgt Joseph Mahady, who emigrated to the States after the war and who passed away earlier this year at 91 years of age.
I believe my Uncle was ground crew and three of the ground crew went up in the flight when the Hailfax bomber crashed.
I believe some Halifax planes had rudder locking problems which caused some crashes though this problem was later fixed.
Regards, Paul Mahady _________________ Jim
