This plaque is located within Ballater Parish Church. It was removed there from the former free church in Ballater. Thanks to Pat Anderson for the photographs;

The booklet " Glenmuick (Ballater) Parish Church of Scotland " guide book of the church and its history and page 4

" There are also memorials in the Vestibule . To the left is a BRONZE PLAQUE in Memory of CAPT. GORDON RENNIE , DURHAM LIGHT INFANTRY , who died in East Africa in 1916 .

On the right wall is a ROLL OF HONOUR naming the Men of the BALLATER FREE KIRK who fell in World War 1 .

The Men of the Parish who fell in Both wars are named on a Memorial in front of the Church.

In 1929 Ballater United Free Church united with the Church of Scotland , becoming the North Church , while the church in the square was the South. The congregations finally united in 1938 . The Free church was used as a hall until 1984 when it was sold and converted to an hotel ."
