Folks
We don't often plug the SMRG blog on the forum but today I posted one which I am hoping might generate some debate:
http://scottishmilitary.blogspot.com/2011/04/does-glasgow-need-super-museum.html
Recent activity in the fortunes of regimental museums has prompted the article. I'll not go into more detail here since it is all in the blog article...
Cheers

It's an interesting topic - I don't see it happening in the way you discuss it but it would be a nice idea.
I think museums like the RHF need to look ahead and consider their future. At the moment the current setup isn't working for them. Thy open from 10-4.30 (or thereabouts) and only during the week. By doing that they're actually restricting the number of visitors they attract.
With opening hours of that kind there's a lot of families won't be able to visit.
Would all these organisations be able to work together? I can't say as I have no experience of how they work at the moment, but can they overcome whatever rivalries they might have? That remains to be seen... |
