The unveiling of the war memorial in Coltness Memorial Church, on Sunday to the men of the congregation who fell in the great European war, attracted a large body of worshippers. The ceremony was performed with full military honours and D. Coy., 6th Battalion Cameronians marched from the drill hall at Wishaw to Newmains headed by a pipe band. The Rev. D. A. Cameron Reid, M.C., preached the sermon and the memorial was unveiled by the Rev. Dr Robertson, D.D., who for so many years was incumbent of the church and had been on terms of closest intimacy with the fallen heroes. [Motherwell Times 25 April 1924] |
