I was shocked to hear that Kevin O'Neill, who had posted to this forum as KevinStoke, passed away today.
Kevin had contributed a number of transcriptions of memorials to this forum, and had been of immense help in transcribing the City of Glasgow Roll of Honour - while that is still unfinished when it is complete I intend to dedicate the complete transcription to his memory.
My thought are with his family at this sad time. |

Very sad indeed.
Kevin was a good friend to a great number of people.
My thoughts are with his family at this sad time. _________________

Quote: | The whole WW1 research community and IFCP in particular have lost a true friend. Kevin was one of the good guys and a really nice person.
Kevin’s name and his work with IFCP will live on as he still has many non-coms in the pipeline. His work rate was tremendous and we shall never be able to fill his shoes. His passing will leave a big hole which we will struggle to fill.
Our thoughts are with his family. |
There is nothing that I could add to the detail above breaking the sad news of Kevin's passing to fellow IFCP members yesterday.
He will be greatly missed. _________________ Jim

What a great loss, his posts were always helpful and insightful, both here and on GWF.

I knew Kevin wasn't in the best of health but this is still a shock to read this. He was always keen to get stuck into anything he set his mind to. A great loss to our online community but an even greater loss to his family and friends.
