Eyemouth Free Church opened in 1879, and became United Free in 1900.

It became Church of Scotland at the Reunion of 1929, as St John's.

It united with Eyemouth Old on 5th October 1954, as Eyemouth.

Services ceased at the Old church in 1966 (it is now the local Museum).

So, quite unusually, the Free Church building is now the Parish Church.

William Windram is named on the civic memorial but "oddly" under his birth name as:

PRIVATE WILLIAM COOPER. CAN.F.

William Windram age 28 Private (464559) 54th Battalion, Canadian Infantry.
William was a labourer when he enlisted in Vancouver, British Columbia in November 1915. He sailed with the 62nd Battalion from Halifax, Nova Scotia in March 1916 and was posted to the 54th Battalion in France in August 1916. He was wounded in November and evacuated to the 3rd Scottish General Hospital in Glasgow. William rejoined his battalion in France in August 1917 but he was killed a month later.
Born 1889 at Yard Heads, Eyemouth as William Cooper. Son of Andrew Cooper (Salmon fisher of Berwick-on-Tweed) and of Isabella Windram, from 1903 Mrs Robert Angus of May House, Eyemouth. Husband of Jane or Jeanie (Hutchison) Windram of 141 High Street, Dunbar, East Lothian who he married in 1912 in Eyemouth. In 1918 she became Mrs Robert Marr of 14 Colvin Street, Dunbar.
Missing in Action on 8 September 1917 and named on the Vimy Memorial, France.
