That is interesting. The only officer listed takes precedence I see.

This was usual, given the class sytem operating at the time.
Although Royal Navy, Dempster, Eagle and Keppie have no rank given.
There is no J Keppie on CWGC as RND. They are listed as RAMC and Royal Scots, both Edinburgh. _________________ Jim

The way I am thinking is that the Army can be categorised into Regiments,
To do the same for the Navy you would name the ship on which the person served.
HLI or RHF can be easily translated as Highland Light Infantry or Royal Highland Fusiliers, HMS Victorious takes up a lot of room and cannot really be abbreviated.
Maybe this is one answer where space is at a premium. |
