The 2nd Bn Gordon Highlanders were in Malaya in 1941 and early 1942. Private Watson would have been captured by the Japanese in that campaign.
Kanchanaburi near Thailand is the cemetery used for the men who died building the 'Death Railway' from Thailand to Burma. It sits near the River Kwai.
