In January 1921 the Hugh Barr stained glass memorial window was installed at East Kilbride West Kirk.
It was designed by a lady artist, Miss Chilton, R.S.W.A., London, and completed by the Abbey Studio, Glasgow.
Unfortunately the lighting was poor and therefore the image is so dark that it’s very difficult to read the inscriptions.
Top left:
Greater love hath no man than this that a man lay down his life for his friends.
Across the base:
In loving memory of Sec. Lieut. Hugh Barr, Royal Scots MGC who fell at Wervicq, Flanders 30th September 1918.
Bottom right:
Is the emblem of the Royal Scots.
