Cambuslang Old Parish Church, 3 Cairns Road, Kirkhill, Cambuslang, G72 8PX

Grid Ref: NS 646600

Cambuslang Parish (Old) Church was built in 1841, by David Cousin, on the site of one built in 1743, which in turn succeeded one built in 1626. A church and burial ground is noted at the present site in 1458. A stone coffin was found during the rebuilding in 1743. The church is said to be dedicated to St Cadoc or Cadocus (6th century), but there is no evidence of a Culdee church having existed in this parish.

The following is an extract from the Rutherglen Reformer.

“The Cambuslang Parish Church congregation have had their say on which of three sites is the best home for them.
A consultation exercise was held with the congregation - formed in May 2008 from the union of St Andrew’s, Cambuslang Old Parish and Trinity St Paul's Churches - to pick their preferred option as a home.
The congregation had previously voted on the former Old Parish building in Kirkhill as their home, but problems arose last September when it was discovered that structural works need to be carried out in the church halls in Kirkhill.
Since then the church has been based at the former St Andrew’s building in Main Street.
Last week, the church held their consultation to ascertain the congregation's most preferred option.
Using an alternative choice system, after eliminating the least popular options, two remained, Trinity St Paul's with St Andrew's, and St Andrew's with Kirkhill.
The option which emerged as having the highest preference was St Andrew's with Kirkhill.”
