We have had a situation recently where a forum members photograph disappeared from the forum.
This isn't a regular occurance but it has happened more than once. It is something we need to try and plan for. The admin and moderators will be discussing possible "fail-safe" options, but for now we need to try and get some kind of "quick fix" to this problem.
Here's what I'm proposing for the moment - could anyone who has submitted photos to the forum please send me copies of those photos. Preferably on a CD or DVD. That way we have them stored "offline" - I would give a copy of the photos to Adam and they would only be used for the purpose of backup in the event of any "catastrophe" affecting the forum or photo-sharing websites.
If everyone is happy with this they can send me a Private Message askign for my postal address.
Any questions about this please feel free to ask. |

Folks
We have set ourselves a task to record Scotland's war memorials. It's all very informal and that has suited our purposes until now but we have got so much data in such a short space of time we can't risk losing it all.
It's only part of it though because there is so much more to the forum than just photographs. I don't think this is the thread to discuss it though. This should stay as a request for photographs and the discussion should not stray into other topics. David mentioned above that the Admin and Mods will look into other options but I will start another thread for these other discussions so that anyone who has contributed to the forum can add their thoughts to the matter.
Regards
Adam |
