The "Children of Far Eastern Prisoners of War" website are transcribing Japanese prisoner index cards and photographing the post war questionaire forms.
From these you may learn what camps a person was located in and when, as well as who their commanding officer was. Another useful detail in these records are their date and location of capture.
Not all are yet transcribed or photographed, but you may get lucky.

This is an example of a Pow card. It show Alexander Aitken taken captive at Malaya ( Singapore) on 15 Feb 1942 ( Japanese year 17). He then travels ( overland ) to Thailand to work on the Burma Railway on 29/4/1943. He died at Nikki Camp ( JA98) on 19th June 1943 in the midst of a Cholera epidemic.
300 prisoners were cremated to try to halt the epidemic in May / June 1943. Their ashes were buried at Nikke but were later moved to two adjoining graves in Plot IX at Kanchanaburi (JA24). Among their number were 22 members of the 2nd Battn Gordon Highlanders, including Alexander Aitken.
