On a very recent visit to Inverness shire I came across the War Memorial to the FORT AUGUSTUS ABBEY BOYS SCHOOL for the Great War & WW2 :

This rectangular stone pillar memorial is beside the tree line that leads from the main entrance to the abbey that was sold a few years ago but access is available to the old Boathouse that is a restaurant .

The Memorial stone reads

"IN MEMORY OF
OUR OLD BOYS
OF THE ABBEY SCHOOL
KILLED IN THE WARS

R.I.P

REMEMBER THEM AT THE ALTAR "

( no names on this rectangular stone pillar memorial and just the wording as above )

Patrick W Anderson

PS even our B & B owners who are local did not know of this memorial at the former Monastery !

Some photos at http://www.corbie.com/

"Rededication of Old Boy's War Memorial

Old Boys will remember the war memorial which was situated at the fork in the main school drive. It would have been passed by boys countless times possibly not realising its true significance (certainly for the younger OBs). At the OB AGM in 2010, it was agreed that the memorial should be cleaned and the letters re-carved. Fr Benedict Seed re-dedicated the War Memorial on 26 May, which had been newly-restored and re-located at its original position."
