Whilst out walking at the weekend I stopped and read the names on Ormiston Memorial as I'm sure we all do as we pass them.
On this Memorial is a James Moggie when I went home I searched CWGC and found that he was a L/CPL in the Royal Scots killed in action in April 1918 during the Battles fought to stop the German advance.
During my CWGC search I found an other Moggie (John Wynn) a civilian who was killed in March 1941. I have done a bit research into this unusual name but have found no link between the two.
John Wynn Moggie does not appear on Haddington War Memorial. Anyone from East Lothian know if these two were related, its such an unusual name
Thanks

Hello Alasdair and Adam,
Found this forum through the genealogy forum, RootsChat.
James and John were uncle and nephew. John Wynn Moggie's mother was Elizabeth Ann Moggie. Her parents were John Moggie and Mary Scott. They were also the parents of James Scott Moggie.
Hope this answers your question, Alasdair

Thank you for the welcome, Anne.
Ormiston is one of my ancestors' haunts, so to speak!, so the thread title caught my eye.
