This thread is now solely for discussion of potential memorials not covered by the Project in the Moray area.
Where known I have included the memorial’s location. Its OS reference point and its entry on the UKNIWM database.
If there are any additions or corrections needed on this list please let me know.
I have also added links to memorials posted in this forum. They are the blue ones in the list.

If you look at the list above Roxy has now completed the Morayshire civic list. Another area in Scotland where we now have 100% of the civic memorials listed.
Well done Roxy on getting the last few for the forum.

I'm glad you asked! We now have all the civic memorials in these areas:
Angus & City of Dundee
Badenoch
Borders
Bute
Dumfries & Galloway
East Lothian
Falkirk
Lanarkshire
Moray
Nairn
Perth & Kinross
West Lothian
And these are the numbers we still need to get for the other areas.
Aberdeen City - 1
Central Scotland - Clackmannan - 1
City of Glasgow - 1
Highland - Sutherland - 1
Argyll & Bute - Mull - 2
City of Edinburgh - 2
Dunbartonshire - 2
Highland - Islands - 2
Midlothian - 2
Argyll & Bute - Islands - 3
Argyll & Bute - Islay - 4
Western Isles - 4
Highland - Lochaber - 5
Highland - Skye & Lochalsh - 5
Highland - Inverness - 6
Central Scotland - Stirling - 8
Highland - Caithness - 8
Highland - Ross & Cromarty - 10
Orkney - 10
Fife - 11
Renfrewshire & Inverclyde - 11
Shetland - 15
Argyll & Bute - Mainland - 16
Ayrshire - 16
Aberdeenshire - 22
That's only 168 left out of 1375 (or 88%)
I'm going to start posting the lists of missing ones over the next few days.
Cheers

A sad indictment of the 21st century is that, other than when there is a service ongoing, it is difficult to obtain entry to churches. Consequently, I have still 'to do' the Forres St Laurence Church Parishioners memorial plaques. Furthermore, despite a number of visits, I have been unable to find the memorials to the Hurricane crash at Garmouth nor the Wellington crash at Lossiemouth. I'll ask around, but, in the meantime, if anyone can help, post or PM me and I'll trot along.

I might have found the Wellington and Hurricane memorials thanks to The Moray Firth Aviation Trail

Sorry to undo the perfect record, but...............
I found a reference to a war memorial at Ballindalloch (Inveravon Parish) in Banffshire. I think it is even shown on OS maps as memorial. It is not listed on UKNIWM.
I will add it to the main list.

I've checked with the Moray Burial Ground Research Group website and the memorial that they refer to as 'Ballindalloch' is the same one that we refer to as 'Bridge of Avon' - as does the UKNIWM - I will leave it as it is. I have removed 'Ballindalloch' from the 'to do' list. But a good try Spoons! You had me a bit worried.

Thanks for the update, every now and then I find a reference which does turn out to be a new memorial. Sorry I can't check them all out before I post.

Mate,
I'd rather that you did post - otherwise we might miss some! Even if only the odd post proves to be a rabbit hole, you might find memorials that would otherwise fail to be posted.

Jim (kinnethmont) has asked - on another thread - whether I would change the name of 'Bridge of Avon' to reflect the parish that the memorial commemorates. I am inclined to leave the thread with the same name as the UKNIWM; however, I may be open to persuasion. If required, I'll ask the Boss.

I have not raised this further as I had hoped better photos might appear which also showed the reverse of the memorial. I suspect it is down as Bridge of Avon on UKNIWM due to an old RBLS list simply detailing it's location
For the reasons detailed in the post you mention this, and the memorial at Glenlivet, comprise the whole of Inveravon Parish.
UNNIWM have already confirmed they wish to list by parish ( sometimes location in addition) and I believe the " Bosses " will confirm we are using the same format.
This one should be changed to the Parish of Inveravon + ( Delnashaugh, Ballindalloch or Bridge of Avon).
The other one should be changed to the Parish of Glenlivet, as confirmed by the memorials text. If you check UKNIWM it is not listed as stated in the post. I placed the UKNIWM details there last month. If you can move them to the top, please delete my post.
If you want to mention both were originally in Banffshire that would be great. _________________ Jim

Now that the Moray - at least the civic - memorials are complete, I feel that there is nothing more that I can do as a Moderator.
I had intended to do some administrative 'tidying up' regarding the different names, used for at least a couple of memorials, that I have noticed between different groups (us/UKNIWM/the owners/MBGRG); however, following the thread on this topic, I have decided against this.

I think Mortlach Memorial Hall can be added to the "To Do" list.
According to the Aberdeenshire council "Mortlach Memorial Hall, Albert Place, Dufftown. Acquired by the parish to commemorate lives lost in WWII." |

Derek
Although the link takes you to the Aberdeenshire Council site Mortlach Hall is listed there under the Moray Council SMR list. Aberdeenshire are not involved at Dufftown. Mortlach was formerly Banffshire, now attached to Moray. Many, like me, think it should still be Banffshire. _________________ Jim
