From The Scotsman 03 October 1921.
VISCOUNT NOVAR AND BURNTISLAND'S TRIBUTE
Burntisland war memorial was unveiled on Saturday afternoon by Viscount Novar. The memorial is of Aberdeen granite, and is in the form of a Celtic cross, standing on a square base, on the sides of which are inscribed the names of the one hundred and twenty-two local men who fell in the war.
Viscount Novar, after unveiling the memorial congratulated Burntisland on the memorial they had erected in recognition of what home and country owed to the men who went out and fought, and for years steadily endured inconceivable hardships, and faced with fearless mind the pitiless engines of destruction.
