I'm glad to use this forum to try and research more North East of Scotland war memorials. My special interest is WWI.
I'm giving a talk to the Aberdeen & North East Family History on Saturday the 20th October at 2.30pm at Queen Street Church Hall, 79 Queen St; Aberdeen. It's free to anyone who wanted to attend the meeting.
I was over to see the Scottish Memorial in Flanders being unveiled.
Thanks to the forum I was able to enjoy looking at photos others had taken on the day.

Anne,
Welcome aboard.
It wasn't you who sat in front and asked a rather rotund fellow next to me (in his best Celtic tap) to post his photographs onto you was it?

The previous quote was completely off topic, utterly irrelevant and I offer my sincere apologies for any offence caused. |

Hi Derek
No it was not me sitting at the front but I was the one that laid the first wreath after the high heids. The white cushion with the cross of sea thistles. Anne |

Anne,
Hello - and I apologise
A Scottish geneologist "fell" within our company (i.e she sat far too close to us) at the unveiling and I wrongly assumed that it was you.
Have you any idea who laid the wreath from Syke?

Welcome, I would have loved to attend the meeting but it's over 200 miles so I can't really justify the trip, especially to the long suffering 'better half'.

I am interested in making it to the talk, but I move house five days after it, so I think I may be pre-occupied with other matters.
Any chance of some condensed notes on the forum afterwards? |

I went to see the unveiling of the memorial with The War Research Society there were two coaches full, I don't know about the woman from Skye mind you ther were lots of people there. We managed to visit some interesting places as well as going to The Tattoo and The Menin Gate also The Highland Games. Anne :) |
