UKNIWM: 53467

Abbey St Bathans is/was a sparse parish in the Lammermuirs in the north of Berwickshire. Only memorial is this plaque.

I include here a picture & exterior.

Abbey St Bathans Parish Church closed on Sunday 2nd October 2011 and taken on by some parishioners. They've tastefully floored and plastered it and redecorated. Memorials remains 'in situ'.

Building is to remain in community use.

William and James Yule were brothers.

"James Aikman Yule parents James Yule and Janet Aikman born 14feb 1874 Abbey Saint, Bathans, Berwick. He was 5653 1st bn Scots gds. On his soldiers effects it states on or about 28/10/14 but CWGC has him on 29/10/14. Also on his soldier effects (just like his brother William) states Mother Janet A and brother David.
William George Yule born 1883 Abbey St Bathans"
My thanks to Jenny Anderson for the information.

William Yule appears on the Minto war memorial whilst James also appears on the Fogo war memorial.
