The memorial was by monumental sculptors Mesrs. Scott & Rae of Glasgow, the daybook entry reads:
'Order No. 5735, Holytown, Figure & Pedestal, Erected September 1921, Daybook 368'.

Joe

Thanks for the update. I saw something in the 'Bellshill Speaker' about this a while ago (my wife is from Bellshill so gets a regular supply of the local rag and sometimes I have a wee look). There was an article about plans to redevelop that area between the war memorial and the roundabout.

You can see here for more details of the bid from N. Lanarkshire Council's website

I have updated the location details in the first post for this memorial. If you check it out on Google Maps Street View you can see they have driven along the Edinburgh Road twice.

You can see the memorial here:

Google Maps Street View 1

But just go along a few yards and it must have been taken in August last year when the memorial had been removed as Joe mentioned above

Google Maps Street View 2

Go on a bit further and hey presto! It's back

Andrew and Robert Lauchlan may be brothers, they share the same parents names. Edward has a different fathers name.

Roberts name on the memorial is Robebty. Perhaps a nickname he was known by?

No mention of his reverend status in his military rank. Not listed on the St Giles memorial to ministers as he's not Scottish, hence why absent from SNWM also. I wonder what the connection to Holytown is?
