Sacred to the memory of the three natives of Coigach who fell during the African War 1899-1902.
Pte. A Morrison 78th Highlanders, killed in action, Paardeberg, Feb 1900.
Trooper M MacLeod, Scots Guards, killed in action, Devondale, Jan 1900.
QM Sgt. J MacLeod, IMr Yeomanry, died of disease, Orange River, Feb 1902.

Topic moved to Highland - Civic and title changed to reflect that this is a Boer War civic memorial rather than specifically a church one.

The 78th Highlanders was the old name for 2nd Bn Seaforth Highlanders.
Pte Morrison is also listed on the Seaforth Highlanders Boer War Memorial in Dingwall.

I notice Trooper M MacLeod served in the Scots Guards. Does that mean he was in a Mounted Service Company?
