Wigtown Gardens (opposite the Town Hall) was renamed the Louis McGuffie VC Memorial Gardens at a ceremony on 28th September 2018. A new entrance archway was made, below which his VC memorial paving stone was installed.

It's WMR 77515, it got it's number before the archway was erected (see the thread on the McGuffie plaque in the County Buildings). I never got round to remembering to photograph it - even though I was on the Committee behind it's erection. How embarassing! But thanks for posting it. At the other end of the gardens there is a small sign carrying the name of the gardens. At some time the Council will get round to providing an information plaque - but don't hold your breath!

I have now updated the WMR report- had been waiting for an image.

I have also updated the War Memorials Online report. I don't know who created that as it was a straight data dump from the WMR report.
