I visited this memorial yesterday, and was surprised to see that there was a lot more to it than the wall previously pictured here.
Next to the wall is a small display about Grangemouth, Spitfires, and the replica Spitfire here.
This is the small stained glass "window" which forms part of this area of the memorial.
To the left of this is the replica Spitfire, displayed as if frozen in flight. This is truly very impressive to see.
Further along from the wall memorial is a small cairn:
Finally, on the back of the large wall part of the memorial are further panels. Two are of photos of the members of the ATC from the present day, which I did not get photos of (it features photographs of the current members of the ATC, which I personally did not feel comfortable posting on here). I did, however, take pictures of these panels:
There is a sign requesting people do not climb on the replica spitfire, but I was pleased to see that this memorial is very well maintained and in excellent condition. I think the location assists this as it is not a particularly residential area. |
