The CWGC listing for John Young, Lance Corporal (13868) 1st Battalion, Royal Scots who died 30 April 1915 shows that “His brother Robert also fell.”

They were sons of James and Margaret (Bradford) Young of Amisfield Lodge, Haddington, East Lothian.

There is a service record on Ancestry which shows that Robert Young aged 18y 4m was a garden labourer living at Amisfield Lodge when he enlisted in March 1917 as Private (3353) in the Lothians and Border Horse Yeomanry. The record is badly damaged but it seems that went to the BEF in 1918 and was transferred to the 16th Royal Scots.

There is a Soldiers Effects record for Robert Young 16th Royal Scots. Service number 51130 who died between 9 and 16 April 1918, father James but I cannot trace any other record for him.

Terry Denham is looking at this one.

There's a pension card for him. Next of kin is his mother Margaret Young, of West Lodge, Amisfield, Haddington. States he went missing between the 9th and 16th April 1918.

Shall I send it on to you?
