No sign af an article about the unveiling, so here is the next nearest.

    The Scotsman - 04-Oct-1919

    KIRKLISTON WAR MEMORIAL

The Committee appointed by the inhabitants of Kirkliston and district have approved of a war memorial design prepared by Mr John Jordan, architect, Edinburgh. A very suitable corner site has been presented by Sir John Stewart Clark. The memorial's chief feature is an obelisk on a stepped base, with stone paving and walls.

This could be a real shocker if I can dig into further into it and can prove that the 2 were related - and given their very distinct name I think they could well prove to be.
They died the same day:

Name: REEDER
Initials: JAMES
Nationality: United Kingdom
Rank: Private
Regiment/Service: Cameron Highlanders
Unit Text: 5th Bn.
Date of Death: 21/10/1917
Service No: S/40805
Casualty Type: Commonwealth War Dead
Grave/Memorial Reference: Special Memorial 7.
Cemetery: ST. JULIEN DRESSING STATION CEMETERY

Name: REEDER
Initials: WILLIAM
Nationality: United Kingdom
Rank: Private
Regiment/Service: Scots Guards
Unit Text: 2nd Bn.
Age: 22
Date of Death: 21/10/1917
Service No: 12186
Additional information: Son of James and Helen Reeder, of Kirkliston, Linlithgowshire.
Casualty Type: Commonwealth War Dead
Grave/Memorial Reference: VI. A. 7A.
Cemetery: MONT HUON MILITARY CEMETERY, LE TREPORT

Note the wrong spelling of the surname on SDGW:

From the 1901 census, the Reeder family at Kirkliston:

James Reeder 40
Helen Reeder 28
Elizabeth Reeder 14
Margaret Reeder 13
James Reeder 7
William Reeder 5
David Reeder 3

There is only one James Reeder on SNWM but there is another (of the same age) listed in the 1901 census so it might be him.

Nothing in Ancestry's MIC or service records that might help

\Paul

JOHN D. SUTHERLAND

Named on the Crossmichael Parish Memorial, Kirkcudbrightshire as
PTE. JOHN D. SUTHERLAND, K.O.S.B.
John Downie Sutherland – age 21 – Private (1637) 1/5th Battalion (Dumfries and Galloway) King's Own Scottish Borderers.
Of Crossmichael - but I cannot trace any other personal details.
This man's service number would indicate that he, along with other local lads, enlisted only days before war was declared. He landed at Galipoli in June 1915.
Born 1893 at New Lanark, Lanarkshire. Son of James and Mary Sutherland of Kentland Cottage, Kirkliston, Edinburgh.
Missing in Action on 12 July 1915 and named on the Helles Memorial, Gallipoli, Turkey.
Also named on the Roll of Honour in Crossmichael Parish Church.
