This is another memorial I was sure had already been covered but I can't find the entry so I'll post this. Apologies if its a duplicate.

Tarland - Kincardine & Deeside District
UKNIWM Ref No. 8630

The Tarland war memorial is a tall and slightly tapering pedestal of rustic grey granite which stands on a base of three low steps and supports the life size sculpture of a highland infantryman with head bowed and arms reversed. The commemoration and names of the dead are listed in black lead lettering on the dressed face of the pedestal. The coimmemoration and names of the WWII dead are listed on a dressed angled face cut into the base. The memorial was the work of Stewart and Co. of Aberdeen and it seems likely that the sculpture was carved by the granite Mason Robert Warrack Morrison. More information on Morrison can be found here:
http://www.leopardmag.co.uk/feats/42/robert-morrison-king-of-the-granite-carvers
The memorial stands in the village square standing within its own small enclosure surrounded by a low railing.
