Name: NAIRN, IAN COOPER
Initials: IC
Nationality: United Kingdom
Rank: Captain
Regiment/Service: Black Watch (Royal Highlanders), 14th (Fife and Forfar Yeomanry) Bn
Awards: Military Cross and Bar
Date of Death: 2/9/1918
Age: 25
Additional Information: Son of John and Gertrude Nairn, of Forth Park, Kirkcaldy.
Grave Reference: III B 35
Cemetery: Peronne Communal Cemetery Extension.

Note: CWGC record Captain Nairn's middle name as Cooper. Most other records have it as Couper, his mother's maiden name. I have contact CWGC to seek amendment.

Ian Nairn's father, John, was a linoleum manufacturer and funded the construction of Kikcaldy War Memorial (which carries Ian Nairn's name) and the town's art gallery. A childhood portrait of Ian Nairn can be seen in the gallery. The Nairn factory is still in business in Kirkcaldy, once dubbed the Linoleum capital of the world.
